Farewell Pete Nottingham
Peter Leslie Nottingham 1945 - 2017
Twyning lost one of its own recently with the passing of Peter Nottingham.
A well know figure throughout the whole of
Tewkesbury borough, Pete and his family were one of the first to welcome us to the village over 15 years ago and I can say with some certainty that most everywhere we went together someone would always know "Notty" and they would know he was proud to be from Twyning....
With his love of all things horticultural Pete worked for many years at Puckrup on both the golf course and the gardens as well as endless hours of work preparing the "Twyning Oval" for our local cricket team, a legacy that son Jason will hopefully carry on.
Pete of course was also responsible for the developing and cultivating of our lovely war memorial which he carried on with for as long as he was able and I know as a Parish Councillor how proud we all are of our beautiful cross.
It was very rare to go anywhere without bumping in to one of Pete's friends, many who have been lucky to have known him for a lot longer than me but I think the finest testament I can pay to him is that I never met anyone who did not like him.
Fly high Pete its been my pleasure to have had you as a friend.
Cllr. Ray Edes.
